Smart hydroponics startup ForFarming receives investment from Tarvenn.

ForFarming, a hydroponic, controllable and reportable smart agriculture startup, received investment from Tarvenn at a valuation of 1.4 million TL.

ForFarming, an IOT-based agricultural technology startup that allows you to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers in closed spaces such as homes, warehouses and offices, received its first investment from Tarvenn with a valuation of 1.4 million TL. ForFarming aims to establish environmentally friendly local farms and enable everyone to access fresh, pesticide-free products quickly, easily and at low cost through vertical farming techniques.

ForFarming, one of the initiatives under the umbrella of the Bilgiyi Ticarileştirme Merkezi (BTM), a subsidiary of the İstanbul Ticaret Odası (ITO) and supported by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality subsidiary Istanbul Bilişim ve Akıllı Kent Teknolojileri A.Ş. (İSBAK), offers smart hydroponic agriculture solutions that individuals and food companies can produce their own products. The initiative, which can transform idle areas unsuitable for agriculture into areas where efficient and additive-free plants can be grown, automatically determines the amount of water and nutrients required for each plant type through the software it develops and the sensors it uses and can provide lighting in different spectrums. Thus, it enables you to produce healthy and additive-free products more efficiently in an environment that can be controlled via smartphone or computer.

Less water, more product

Thanks to the algorithm it uses, ForFarming can automatically determine the amount of water and nutrients required for each plant type, and all the data of the plants are measured with the help of sensors and transferred to ForFarming servers. It instantly records, reports and monitors all sensor data related to the environment. Users can monitor and control their systems 24/7 via smartphones, PCs and MAC computers. Thanks to the smart socket technology it uses, it eliminates the need for soil. Since each type of plant needs a different color and intensity of lighting, ForFarming provides lighting across the entire spectrum. Regardless of seasonal and climatic conditions, ForFarming produces 70% more crops using 95% less water than conventional agriculture. The initiative saves time with a faster harvest cycle, and urban farming allows for reduced logistics costs and less environmental damage.

“We provide you access to healthy and fresh products without additives.”

Levent Atlas, Founder of ForFarming; “Due to the ever-increasing population and shrinking agricultural areas in the world and in our country, our access to healthy and fresh products is decreasing day by day. By bringing agriculture and technology together, we enable individuals and companies operating in the food sector to produce fresher, healthier and additive-free vegetables and fruits more efficiently. With the investment and strategic support we received from Tarvenn, we became stronger, increased our customer potential and took steps towards institutionalization.”

‘Commercial’ for institutions, ‘Farmi’ for children

Stating that companies operating in the hotel, restaurant and food sector are potential customers, Levent Atlas, Founder of ForFarming; “We set out to transform idle areas that are not suitable for agriculture into areas where efficient and additive-free plants can be grown. With the power of the technology we use, we have become able to respond to domestic and international demands in a short time.

Stating that they have developed special projects for different institutions and organizations with the “ForFarming Commercial” solution, Atlas says that institutions that can grow fresh products wherever they want throughout the year reduce logistics costs and grow the products they need more efficiently.

Speaking about “Farmi”, their education-oriented solution that they have implemented in schools, Levent Atlas said, “With our Farmi education kits that we offer to schools, we teach our children about agriculture and technology at an early age. We prepare them for a good future by enabling them to produce healthy food themselves. By teaching both technology infrastructure and agriculture, we give them a sense of responsibility.

“Interest in soilless agriculture is increasing”

Emphasizing that they will make a great contribution to Turkish agriculture, Mustafa Kopuk, CEO of Tarvenn, said: “Due to the increasing population and decreasing agricultural areas, access to unadulterated products is becoming more costly and difficult every day. For this reason, interest in soilless agriculture is increasing in the world. By combining agriculture and technology, ForFarming enables you to grow and consume fresh products wherever you want, in any season. We aim to achieve success not only domestically but also internationally in a short time.
